Personal statement
An award-winning professional photographer, videographer, and UAV Pilot, I have a passion for my native Yorkshire, particularly its landscape and wildlife.
With more than 25 years’ experience working and lecturing in photography and videography, I combine technical expertise with a creative approach, to bring out the best of each assignment.
I run my own freelance videography, photography and UAV company, and work as the primary videographer and UAV operator for This Film and Robert E Fuller, Wildlife artist.
An eye for compelling angles for a photo story and a natural visual storyteller, I always aim to produce the best possible work. My images have featured in all the major national news publications and online platforms.
I regularly profile festivals and events, as well as more recently filming with Stephen Fry, Steve Backshall,
Chris Packham, Ken Loach and Tom Kerridge.
My film-work has featured on national TV shows, such as BBC Countryfile, and I’ve showcased iconic country homes, including Newby Hall and Castle Howard.
I own a large array of equipment, including full-frame Canon DSLR cameras and lenses; Canon R5c Cinema cameras x3 8K video kit, and a DJI inspire drone with raw capability, plus Phantom 4 Pro and a Mavic pro 3
I video edit in da Vinci resolve and hold a certificate for my editing from blackmagic design
A collection of my drone images won the Best Body of Work at the 2018 Great North Art Show.
I’m proud to be known for my friendly, approachable nature; it’s important to me to be collaborative and personable – to ensure the best results are achieved, in the best way possible.

1995-Present: Self-employed, freelance Photographer/videographer through Gary Lawson Media, Robert e Fuller, This Film, Video Web Productions and Cause UK.
2005-2009: Harrogate college (Leeds Met. University) Lecturer in Photography (evening classes, NCFE levels 1 & 2), working on the BTEC National Diploma Arts and Media.
1998-2005: Ripon Community Link, Ripon Outreach Coordinator for a small ‘not for profit’ business working with adults with disabilities.
1995-1998: Barnardos, Residential Social Worker for a charity working with vulnerable children and young adults, specializing in helping people displaying challenging behaviors.
Voluntary Work
Open Country: Conservation work with adults with disabilities.
Open Access: Cycling for the disabled.
I also work with several local schools, charities, and theatre groups when they require videos and images to promote their work.
